To provide you with a more comprehensive and efficient backup service, our application requires full file management permission. Here, we explain in detail the necessity of obtaining this permission, its uses, and the protection measures for your data.
1. Necessity of Obtaining Permission
During backup operations, you may wish to fully and accurately back up various types of files on your device (including but not limited to documents, images, audio, videos, and other file formats) to a designated location (such as the cloud or an external storage device). Since files on your device are stored in different directory structures, if the application only has limited file access permissions, it will be unable to traverse and access all files you wish to back up.
For example, some important work documents may be stored in custom folders, precious family photos may be scattered across different album directories, and some files in special formats may be stored in specific application-associated folders. Only with full file management permission can the application ensure that all files on your device are scanned and backed up without omission, meeting your need for comprehensive data backup.
2. Specific Uses of the Permission
File Scanning and Identification: After obtaining permission, the application will scan all files in your device's storage. Using specific algorithms and technologies, it identifies different types of files and categorizes them. This process is similar to classifying and numbering books in a large library based on categories, authors, publication years, etc., to facilitate quick and accurate retrieval and processing of each book (i.e., each file). For example, all .jpg format images are classified as images, and .doc and .pdf format files are classified as documents.
Backup Execution: After completing file scanning and classification, the application will copy and transfer the identified files to the target location in accordance with your set backup strategy (e.g., backing up to a specific folder on a cloud server or a designated path on an external USB storage device). Taking cloud backup as an example, the application will establish a secure connection with the cloud server and upload local files to the exclusive storage space assigned to you on the server—similar to moving items from your home to a secure warehouse for safe keeping.
Backup Integrity Verification: To ensure that backed-up files are accurate and complete, after completing the backup operation, the application will use the obtained permission again to compare and verify the local source files with the files backed up to the target location. Through technical means such as calculating file hash values (similar to a file's "fingerprint"—each file has a unique hash value), it confirms that the backed-up files are identical to the original files in terms of content and size. Only when all files pass the integrity verification will the backup task be deemed successfully completed.
3. Data Protection Measures
Encrypted Transmission: When transferring your files from your device to the backup target location (e.g., the cloud), the application uses advanced encryption algorithms (such as the SSL/TLS encryption protocol) to encrypt the data. This means that your files are like being placed in a safe with a high-strength lock during transmission. Even if the data is illegally intercepted during transmission, third parties cannot read its content, as they will only see a string of encrypted garbled characters.
Encrypted Storage: Whether temporarily storing backup-related data locally on your device, or storing files on a cloud server or external storage device, the application will store files in encrypted form. On the cloud, files are encrypted using industry-standard encryption algorithms such as AES before being stored on the server's hard drive; for external storage devices, data is encrypted during writing. This ensures that even if the storage device is lost or stolen, the data contained therein will not be easily accessed or used by others.
Strict Access Control: The application has established a strict internal access control mechanism—only authorized specific modules and code can operate on the obtained files. At the same time, extremely strict permission management policies are formulated for application development and operation personnel to restrict their access to user file data. Only when necessary (e.g., for troubleshooting and after going through multiple approval processes) can relevant personnel view a small amount of user data in a secure and controllable environment. All operations are recorded in detail and audited for traceability and accountability.
Compliance with Privacy Policy: We always strictly comply with the published Privacy Policy and will not use your obtained file data for any purposes unrelated to the backup service. Without your explicit consent, we will not disclose the content of your files to any third parties. The Privacy Policy details the rules and measures regarding the collection, use, storage, and protection of your data, which you can review at any time within the application or on our official website.
We understand the importance you attach to your personal data. Obtaining full file management permission is to better serve the backup function, and we will make every effort to protect the security and privacy of your data. If you have any questions or concerns about permission acquisition or data protection, please feel free to contact us through the feedback channel within the application or our official customer service.
